Marbef - The Flanders Marine Institute, which has joined PLANKTON*NET as a non-funded member, is also responsible for data management activities in the Marbef project. A collaboration with Marbef will be initiated on several levels, for example the assembly of phytoplankton species lists (through co-ordinating efforts with ERMS) or the development of biogeographic mapping tools. The final aim is to link images from PLANKTON*NET to ERMS

Lake Kinneret Laboratory: The Yigal Allon Kinneret Limnological Laboratory (KLL) located on the NW shore of Lake Kinneret (Sea of Galilee), monitors major environmental factors that determine the state of the lake and conducts limnological research aimed at understanding how present and future conditions might affect the ecosystem of the lake and the quality of its water. A collection of images has already been added to the MICRO*SCOPE site at Woods Hole and this partner will establish a new PLANKTON*NET site in June/ July 2007.

uBio - The uBio project, located at the Marine Biological Laboratory Woods Hole has for the last 5 years been involved in the design of 'taxonomically intelligent' tools which deal with the issues of taxonomic name assignment i.e. such problems as one organism being known under several names or different organisms being assigned the same name

ICOMM - The International Census of Marine Microbes is dedicated to collecting marine Microbial diversity from representative parts of the world’s oceans by the year 2010. Part of its strategy is to make information on microbial biodiversity available online through its online database system MICROBIS. This is a considerable challenge as this information is comprised of a number of types of data from genetic to biogeographic and species name based data.

AQUAECOLOGY - AQUAECOLOGY is a small company located in Bremerhaven, that specializes in all aspects of marine and freshwater monitoring/ analysis and also has extensive expertise in online taxonomic databases. AQUAECOLOGY and AWI together with all other PLANKTON*NET partners will collectively work particularly on extensions to the search functionality of the present PLANKTON*NET site and on tools for the automation of input processes. This is a collaboration that was made possible by additional funding from the Bremerhavener Gesellschaft für Investitionsförderung (BIS) a local Northern German funding agency.
