PlanktonNet investigtors have established a special collection of image material to mark the 50th anniversary of the Roman treaties which formed the foundation of the EWG and therefore the EU. For this special collection we have assembled a list of 50 different plankton species, with each of the 50 species having been described in one of the past 50 years where possible from a European taxonomists. All partners in the PLANKTON*NET EU project have participated in the assembly of this set of images which includes diatoms, dinoflagellates, coccolithophores and picoplanktonic flagellates (see 10013/de.awi.planktonnet.set.495)
